One Young World Summit in Montreal: Empowering Global Youth
The OCEANS Network took part in the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, from 17 to 21 September 2024, by co-hosting a pivotal workshop in collaboration with the Erasmus Mundus Association. Titled “Empowering Global Youth through International Mobility and Intercultural Exchange”, the workshop highlighted the transformative impact of studying abroad and the importance of creating equitable access to education.
The session, facilitated by Samir Beharić (OCEANS), Ecem Oskay (OCEANS), and Seunnla Adelusi (Erasmus Mundus Association), featured powerful alumni stories, actionable advice on securing scholarships, and discussions on overcoming barriers to educational opportunities. The facilitators, all distinguished Erasmus+ alumni, shared their personal experiences to inspire participants and emphasise the life-changing potential of international mobility and intercultural exchange.
Interactive activities and engaging discussions added depth to the workshop, drawing enthusiastic participation from attendees worldwide. Feedback from the session underscored its success in fostering meaningful connections and providing valuable insights for young changemakers.
This impactful collaboration between the OCEANS Network and the Erasmus Mundus Association reinforced a shared mission to empower youth through education and mobility. By addressing global challenges and promoting international collaboration, the workshop demonstrated the organisations’ commitment to building a more connected and inclusive world.
Since 2010, the One Young World Summit has inspired and celebrated changemakers and positively impacted 41.56 million people around the globe. The next One Young World Summit will take place in Munich, Germany, from 3 to 6 November 2025.
