The vibrant capital city of Hanoi in Vietnam hosted the Erasmus+ Days event on 22-23 October 2024, celebrating the educational exchange projects between Vietnam and Europe. Organised by the European Union Delegation in Vietnam, it aimed to highlight the opportunities and benefits provided by the Erasmus+ programme, fostering international education and collaboration. The event was officially opened by His Excellency Mr Margaritis Schinas, the Vice President of the European Commission, and His Excellency Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
The Erasmus+ Days welcomed over 40 higher education institutions (HEIs) from EU Member States to Vietnam as well as more than 100 Vietnamese HEIs interested in the Erasmus+ programme, the EU’s flagship programme in education, training, youth and sport. It included a series of presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities for participants, allowing participants to engage with educators, alumni, and representatives from European and Vietnamese universities. The event also provided a platform to establish new partnerships for both Vietnamese and European HEIs and encourage new proposals for the Erasmus+ programme’s new cycle 2021-2027.
OCEANS Network representative, Uswa Alhamid, actively participated as a panellist in the Erasmus alumni session. This engaging session was moderated by Dr. Tatas Brotosudarmo, Regional Coordinator of EURAXESS ASEAN. Joining Uswa on the panel were distinguished alumni including Mr. Dinh Khac Dong, President of the EU Alumni Network, Ms. Nguyen Minh Chau, former President of the Sweden Alumni Network Vietnam, and Dr. Collins Santhanasamy, Director of the Partnership Development Unit at the Erasmus Mundus Association.
The success of the Erasmus+ Days 2024 event in Hanoi is a testament to the tremendous effort and dedication of the EU Delegation in Vietnam, which works tirelessly to promote educational excellence and foster international collaboration between Vietnam and the European Union.
